E-2. Committees and Partners
The Office of Information Technology works with campus committees and partners to ensure appropriate use of funds and best practices in the use of technology.
Faculty Senate IT Committee
IT provides a pool of funds to the schools each fiscal year for special software and hardware purchases. A subcommittee of the Faculty Senate receives proposals for the use of these funds and, in consultation with IT, ensures consistency and compatibility with other IT deployments, then reviews and prioritizes the requests. For a list of current members of this committee, visit the Faculty Senate Committees webpage.
Web Advisory Council
The Web Advisory Council ensures that the finite resources available for IU Southeast’s in-house web development will be allocated to the highest priorities, and in accordance with the campus Strategic Plan and the IU Bicentennial Strategic Plan. Leadership for the Council is provided by the IU Southeast Office of Advancement and UITS. The sponsors and co-chairs are from these two units, while members are appointed annually by the Chancellor and represent a cross-section of key campus departments.
SE Learning Spaces Committee
The SE Learning Spaces Committee's charge is to work collaboratively to improve on-campus learning environments for students. Committee is comprised of members from ILTE, UITS, Facility Operations, Office of the Registrar, and three members of the IU Southeast faculty. The committee meets monthly and acts as a clearing house for classroom upgrade requests, which may include recommendations related to building renovations, furniture, and new technologies. Enabling flexible, active learning spaces is a priority. The Registrar is present to consult on supply and demand issues and to ensure use of the learning spaces is appropriately scheduled.
ILTE (Institute for Learning & Teaching Excellence) Partnership
ILTE is the center for teaching and learning at IU Southeast. IT works closely with the ILTE director and teaching consultants to track faculty needs and pilot new teaching technologies. The partnership also includes review and improvement of campus learning spaces, in collaboration with the UITS Learning Technologies division. For additional information, visit the Teaching and Learning at IU webpage.
