Policies and procedures regarding student conduct are found in the IU Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct which is distributed to all new students at orientation, available for all students at the Information Desk in the University Center, and accessible online. The IU Southeast Code Summary provides an overview of the Code.

The principal judicial officer of the campus for personal and academic misconduct is the dean of Student Life, who may initiate a disciplinary action when a student is charged with misconduct.

Academic and Personal Misconduct

The IU Southeast Student Conduct Process provides guidance for handling student personal and academic misconduct. Faculty can access, fill out, and submit the Academic Misconduct Report under “Faculty Resources” on the Dean of Student Life website.

Student Conduct Records

Eligible IU Southeast students have the right to inspect and review their disciplinary records maintained by the Office of Student Affairs – see IU Policy USSS-06, Student Rights Under FERPA. The student must make the request to review disciplinary records in writing using the Student Request to View Official Education Record form. Per FERPA guidelines, IU Southeast has established procedures to respond to a request for access to disciplinary records within a reasonable period of time.

Hazing Awareness and Prevention

Hazing is defined as any conduct which subjects another person, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, or psychologically to anything that may endanger, abuse, degrade, or intimidate the person as a condition of association of a group or organization, regardless of a person’s consent. View the Hazing Awareness and Prevention brochure for additional information.
