Change to IU Wireless Network and Library Resources

IU Wireless Network Changes

Due to increasing administrative and equipment costs, UITS Network is centralizing the management of Regional Campuses Wireless networks. What does this mean for your access to library resources?

Frequently Asked Questions

I do not start my research from the library’s website. What can I do to make my access to library resources seamless?

Due to this new change, it is best to start at the library website. Once you sign into a library resource, your affiliation will be registered and you will be able to access library resources, when available, outside of the library platforms (like publisher webpages). We also suggest adding LibKey Nomad as a browser plugin to your computer. No matter where you start your search, LibKey Nomad will pop-up and allow you to access full-text articles or send you to the Interlibrary loan service.

I have a laptop in my campus office. How will I be affected?

When your laptop is plugged into your office docking station you will no longer be on Wi-Fi, and you will be able to access library resources in your preferred way. It is recommended to always start with a library resource. Once you sign in, your affiliation to IU Southeast is registered, and all library resources will be available to you.

I have a desktop computer in my campus office. How will I be affected?

Your desktop computer is not on Wi-Fi, and this should not affect accessing library resources from it.

I use my phone/tablet to access library resources while on campus. How will I be affected?

Since you will be using Wi-Fi from your phone or tablet, you will need to start your search at the library webpage and sign into a library resource. Once you sign in, your affiliation to IU Southeast is registered, and all library resources will be available to you.

Does this change how I access library resources at home/not on campus?

No. This does not affect how you access library resources at home/not on campus. Although, we do suggest adding LibKey Nomad as a browser extension/plugin to your computer. No matter where you start your search, LibKey Nomad will pop-up and allow you to access full-text articles or send you to the Interlibrary loan service.

Can I use LibKey Nomad when I am not on campus?

Yes. You can use LibKey Nomad on or off campus. Library staff use it every day to access library resources and services.
