Borrowing & Circulation
Library materials are borrowed at the Service Desk, located on the second (main) floor of the Library. This is also where you check out items your professor may have placed on Reserve. You can return library materials at the Service Desk or in either of our two book drops, one to the left of the main entrance to the Library, and the other at the bottom of the Library walkway, in front of the Evergreen West parking lot. Starting in Fall 2022, IU Southeast Library materials can also be returned to the Floyd County Library, at either the main branch or the Galena Digital Library branch.
All Indiana University students, faculty, and staff can check out materials using a valid form of identification (e.g. CrimsonCard, state-issued driver's license, passport, etc.). Indiana residents, Kentucky residents living in Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson, Meade, Oldham, Shelby, Trimble, and Spencer counties, and any student, faculty, or staff at a Metroversity university may apply for a Library Community Borrower's Card.
IU Southeast undergraduate students may have materials for 45 days. Faculty, staff, and graduate students may borrow materials for 120 days. Anyone who has a Library Community Borrower's card may have materials for 30 days.
IU Southeast faculty, staff, and students may renew materials online via IUCAT, by telephone, in person, or by mail. All other users may renew items by telephone, in person, or by mail.
The staff at the Service Desk can explain specific borrowing guidelines and policies or you may visit our Policy Page to learn more.
