Have a Look-See
October 7–31, 2024
exhibit opening for local artist Max Broxson on Oct. 7
Free event
Come out Monday, October 7, 5–7:00 p.m., to meet local artist Max Broxson and enjoy some refreshments on the first floor of the Library in the Library Art Gallery.
Max Broxson was born in Pensacola, Florida. His family moved to Saudi Arabia when Max was 3 and lived there for 10 years. They eventually settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Max went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He now lives and works in Louisville, Kentucky.
“The images I make are representative of the way I see things,” he says.
“My paintings are made without any goal in mind. The process of applying paint—finding patterns, isolating, eliminating, conscious and unconscious decisions—ultimately renders the final image. I facilitate; forms appear, and I welcome them here.
My photographs offer a frequently overlooked perspective on the world and its most meager creatures—I love bugs. They foster a formal elegance, an inner world, and a uniquely indispensable nature that I hope to unveil through intimate analog portraits.
This is the way I see. I invite others to come see, too.”
