The Vice Chancellor oversees the following units and programs:

  • Academic Units –
    • School of Arts & Letters – The School of Arts and Letters houses degree programs in Fine Arts, Music, English, General Studies, Communication Studies (theatre), Philosophy, and Foreign Languages, all of which offer the BA degree as well as the BFA in Fine Arts. These disciplines are at the core of the IU Southeast liberal arts education through study of the intellectual and artistic aspects of human culture.
    • School of Business – Pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees from this AACSB–accredited School of Business. The School of Business has an outstanding faculty and consistently ranks among the highest in the nation in student satisfaction and learning outcomes.
    • School of Education – The mission of the School of Education is to develop high quality caring professionals who stimulate continuous renewal of schools within a multicultural society. We prepares individuals to be teachers, counselors and school leaders through our BS degrees in Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education, a Transition to Teaching Licensing program, MS degrees in Elementary, Secondary and Counseling, an Educational Leadership program, and other licensing areas.
    • School of Natural Science – The School of Natural Sciences comprises the allied health, biological, and physical sciences, as well as mathematics, informatics, and computing sciences. Approximately 500 students are seeking degrees in school's various fields, including Allied Health, Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Geosciences, Informatics, Mathematics, and Physics. More than 90% of the school graduates who apply to graduate or professional schools are accepted, and succeed in pursuing their goals.
    • School of Nursing – The School of Nursing at IU Southeast is also part of the Indiana University School of Nursing. The school offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, which educates students to function as practitioners in a wide range of health care settings and provides a foundation for leadership positions and graduate study. The school also offers and RN–to–BSN mobility program.
    • School of Social Science – The School of Social Sciences offers BA degrees in History, International Studies, Journalism, Political Science, Psychology, and History. It also offers the BS in Criminal Justice.
    • Master of Interdisciplinary Studies Program – The Master in Interdisciplinary Studies Program is a 30 hour interdisciplinary arts and sciences degree. Students are able to design their own concentrations.
  • Institute for Learning and Teaching Excellence – The Institute for Learning and Teaching Excellence, the University's "teaching learning center," is a resource designed to assist faculty with advancing and enhancing their teaching with the ultimate goal of increasing and improving student learning.
  • Library – The IU Southeast Library offers a full range of information resources, reference services, and instructional support programs in a new (opened January 2005) state–of–the–art facility. In addition to serving IU Southeast students and scholars, the IU Southeast Library is also open to the public. Call the Reference Desk, 812–941–2489, for more information.
  • Registrar – The Registrar's Office is responsible for maintaining the academic records for all students. Most widely recognized for managing registration, other services include verification of enrollment, processing official transcripts, grade maintenance and services for our veteran population and Metroversity students. The Registrar's Office works closely with the academic units to produce the schedule of classes each semester and assigns classroom space.
  • Office of Institutional Effectiveness – The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides and coordinates information in support of planning, administration, and evaluation of academic and administrative programs. The office supports the development, implementation and feedback processes for assessment of student learning in academic units and conducts survey research projects for the campus.

In addition, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, has primary responsibilities in three areas: faculty facilitation of student success; coordination of diversity programs and efforts; and coordination of enrollment management efforts. The associate vice chancellor also serves in place of the vice chancellor for academic affairs when necessary.

  • Honors Program – The Honors Program at Indiana University Southeast is designed to serve the needs and interests of highly motivated students who seek a stimulating and exciting academic experience and formal recognition for completing a challenging program.
  • Academic Advising – IU Southeast students with a declared school or major are advised within that school. Although advising is de–centralized, advisors from across campus work closely to ensure that all students are supported throughout their time at IU Southeast.
  • Advising Center for Exploratory Students – IU Southeast students without a declared school or major are advised by professional advisors in the Advising Center for Exploratory Students. Working in coordination with the Career Development Center, ACES advisors assist students in choosing a career path and corresponding IU Southeast major.

  • Office of Study Abroad and Global Awareness

The Dean for Graduate Studies and Research assists and promotes the IU Southeast graduate programs. The dean also promotes and supports the research and creative work of faculty and students and facilitates internal and external grant applications.

  • Applied Research and Education Center – AREC provides evaluation, needs assessment, training and consultation services to organizations that are dedicated to sustaining their communities in ways that promote economic and social opportunity. The staff of AREC consists of talented students who bring their skills and compassion from the classroom to the community organizations we serve.
