Strategic Plan 2020

In April 2017, the School of Education faculty approved the Strategic Plan 2020 to guide the unit as it continues to engage in growth.

The plan provides a framework to assure the following common goals:

  • Promote and provide high quality teaching, learning, research and service
  • Develop and promote caring and professional relationships with diverse communities
  • Promote student success and life-long learning
  • Demonstrate continuous program improvement

Strategic Plan - Overview

Indiana University Southeast School of Education will be the regional leader in promoting community partnerships to advance the education and professional development of educators and all learners. The mission of Indiana University Southeast School of Education is to prepare and nurture high quality, caring professionals who are leaders on the continuous improvement of schools within a diverse society.

Goal 1 - Promote and provide high quality teaching, learning, research and service

Action Plans

1.1

Promote and provide best practices through…

  1. innovative teaching and learning opportunities
  2. professional development to all learners and educators
  3. extensive field clinical practice and implementation of evidence-based interventions
1.2

Explore and develop new non-degree/degree programs and special projects to address the needs of stakeholders and the workforce

1.3

Revisit current curriculum for each program to address low scores of candidates in licensure exams

1.4

Initiate scholarships for minorities and non-traditional candidates, as well as those pursuing high need areas, such as: STEM, Special Education, teaching of English Language Learners

Request new faculty position for new programs, as needed

Promote student research opportunities through conference attendance, fellowships, and faculty-student research projects

Give incentives to all our P-12 Clinical Educators and other similar professional partners each year (e.g. waived registration fee at programs, workshops and conferences; recognitions at ATE-I and SOE Honors Program; hire as adjuncts)

  2. Ensure 100% compliance of UDL course syllabi

  1. One hundred percent (100%) of programs add and implement a component of teaching English Language Learners.
  2. Develop a new ELL minor in the undergraduate programs.

Coordinate with Alumni Office to establish a tracking system of program graduates.

Increase faculty, staff and student participation by 5% each year at SOE sponsored events, such as: student orientation, pinning ceremony, Honors Program, open house, etc.

Unit and all programs’ website, brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials are updated and current, accurate information.

M4.4

All programs submit a yearly report using TaskStream to use data to ensure quality preparation, ongoing professional development, and successful completion of candidates in the programs.

M4.5

Continue to receive state approval and national accreditation for the unit and all appropriate programs

M4.6

100% of programs submit a yearly report on collaboration and partnership with stakeholders

M4.7

Unit has a yearly report to show that full-time and part-time faculty/staff engages in professional development activities.

100% of programs completes a yearly report on partnership or collaboration with P-12 schools:

  1. through clinical placements, and
  2. implementation of dispositions in clinical experiences.
