Welcome to the School of Education at Indiana University Southeast!

It is a privilege to serve as the dean of a school that has a long tradition of advocating, helping, and caring for all learners. The School is proud to represent the cornerstone of Indiana University Southeast. We were one of the first academic disciplines to offer classes in 1941 at the Falls City Area Center, where the campus was originally located. As documented, the first student to enroll on campus was Lyda Jeannetta Radford – a New Albany, Indiana native who achieved a 45 year teaching career in the Louisville public schools.

Programs and Offerings

The School of Education has over 650 students and approximately 50 faculty and staff providing quality educational programs for students seeking licensure as teachers, counselors, and school administrators. The School offers undergraduate and graduate degrees with concentrations both in pedagogy and content areas, teacher license renewal, additional teaching licenses, alternative teacher certifications, and professional development programs for elementary and secondary teachers, counselors, and school administrators.
