Steps in the Process
Step 1: Finding an internship
To get started on your search, set up an appointment for an information session to meet with the internship coordinator. This appointment will discuss steps of the internship process and ways to search for an internship. Our office can also review resumes, cover letters, and do mock interviews to make sure you are prepared when looking for an internship. For more internship job search tips visit our internship webpage.
Step 2: Meet with the Career Development Office to Register Internship
Set up an appointment to meet with your internship coordinator to begin the paperwork portion of registering your internship. You will need to know the name of the employer, position title, start date/end date, supervisor’s name and email, and how many credit hours you plan to fulfill (if you are using this internship for academic credit). Work with your Academic Advisor to determine how an internship for credit will fit into your degree plan.
Step 3: During the Internship
Once you have started at your internship, you will need to record the number of hours worked at your internship each week. The Career Development Center is required to ensure you are meeting the minimum number of hours worked to earn credit. During your internship, you will be asked to submit a midterm and a final self-evaluation of your internship experience. These evaluations will be sent to your university email.
