Our Mission

Place student learning, intellectual persistence, and attainment at the center of the university's mission by advocating for enhanced student learning;

Foster a culture of collegiality and excitement about teaching/learning excellence on campus through:

  • Providing new faculty and new adjunct faculty orientation,
  • Integrating adjunct faculty into professional development opportunities, and
  • Providing peer review opportunities for online, hybrid, and F2F classes

Support the improvement of teaching and related service, research, and creative work by:

  • Assisting faculty in developing effective strategies for selecting learning objectives, establishing effective course activities and assignments, and assessing student outcomes;
  • Encouraging adoption of inclusive teaching and universal design of learning;
  • Providing multimodal opportunities to pursue professional development and improvement of teaching by offering workshops, conferences, and grants; and
  • Increasing faculty awareness of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research, their use of SoTL research in designing courses, and their development of SoTL projects

Help faculty take advantage of rapidly changing technology pedagogically proven to enhance student learning through:

  • Encouraging and supporting excellence in learning through the refinement of new technologies and pedagogies,
  • Providing appropriate technology and training to meet faculty needs,
  • Helping faculty take advantage of rapidly changing technology that is pedagogically proven to enhance student learning, and
  • Assisting in developing flexible learning environments
