Criterion 2

The institution acts with integrity; its conduct is ethical and responsible.

IU Southeast is committed to ethical and responsible conduct. As a regional campus of IU, we share in IU’s governance. The Board of Trustees, operating under Indiana state law, is our final governing body. The Board of Trustees has delegated authority at IU Southeast to the Chancellor, who has the advice of the Board of Trustees, their own administrative Cabinet and the IU Southeast Board of Advisors, who represent the campus’ service area.

IU Southeast also shares in the day-to-day policies that IU has established to ensure that all members of the IU community operate with integrity in financial, academic, and administrative operations. Such policies include granting the Faculty Senate with governance of faculty and associated decision-making related to academics, student affairs, and the priorities and goals of the university; prioritizing diversity and transparency in the hiring process; and ensuring that IU Southeast communicates with all constituencies with unambiguity on its website and in all other official communications.

Faculty and student researchers at IU Southeast also operate with academic freedom and with ethical considerations at the forefront. All researchers follow IRB protocol and policies to ensure that human and animal subjects are treated humanely. All members of the IU Southeast community are held to high standards of academic honesty and integrity.
