The information located on this OWL (Online Writing Lab) is intended to provide writing guidance to our faculty, staff, students, and all others who may be interested in improving their writing.
Learning to write well is a process, so our conferences are one-on-one conversations where we assist with your writing concerns. Our mission is to improve writing skills one discussion at a time and, in turn, create more confident, capable writers at IU Southeast.

Hello, and welcome to the Writing Center’s new location in the Library, Room 330. My name is Cheri, and I’ll be guiding you through the Writing Center and all it has to offer.
Our overall mission is to create stronger writers by providing free, educated, and nurturing writing conversations in one-on-one consultations, workshops, class visits, and website resources that improve the knowledge, confidence, and growth of our students in all disciplines.
Whether you walk in or schedule an appointment, our regular hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, but keep an eye on our website for added hours throughout the semester.
The Writing Center is staffed by knowledgeable consultants, mostly fellow students, who are trained to talk about writing and help you write more effectively through every stage of the writing process. We’re here for you at any level, whether that’s diving deep into a writing assignment or just chatting about writing in general.
Consultations typically take about 30 minutes, but if you have a longer paper or more questions, you’re more than welcome to come in for more visits.
Please remember to bring a copy of your assignment and any work that you’ve done, no matter how much or how little. You may also want to bring a notebook or some scratch paper and a writing utensil.
If you’re a fan of our space and just enjoy spending time here, you’re more than welcome to come and just hang out any time within operating hours. We’re happy to have you, whether you’re here to study or have a conversation!
