Each leader has dedicated their lives to enriching the lives of our students, first and foremost, and cultivating our campus throughout our developmental years. We salute their commitment to Indiana University and IU Southeast.
Kyle Ridout
Former longtime manager of the Ogle Center
Ridout was a native of California and a 1985 graduate of Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington where he studied voice with Martha Lipton and Vera Scammon. He spent 17 years managing the Ogle Center, which presents world-class performances for the people of Southern Indiana and the Louisville metro area. He previously served as the Executive Director of Nashville Opera and Company Manager of Kentucky Opera.
Jim Morris
Athletic Director and men's basketball coach
Jim Morris graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1953 where he lettered in baseball, football, and basketball. He went on to become a beloved coach and the first Athletic Director at IU Southeast. Morris joined the University in 1975 and retired in 2000. He served as both athletics director and men's basketball coach.
Gil Atnip
Professor emeritus and former vice chancellor
Atnip, a native of Tampa, Florida, was an honors graduate of Stetson University and earned his masters and doctorate degrees in experimental psychology from Ohio State University. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years and began as a professor of psychology at IU Southeast in 1975. He later served as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs until retiring in 2012.
Leon Rand
Professor emeritus and former chancellor
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Rand earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Northeastern University, M.A. and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin before completing a post-doctoral fellowship in the department of chemistry at Purdue University. Rand was appointed chancellor of Indiana University Southeast in 1986.
Jack Mahuron
Member of the IU Southeast Board of Advisors
A native of Salem, Indiana, Jack was a graduate of Salem High School and attended Clemson University in South Carolina. He was involved in the establishment of the Washington County Community Foundation, the building and financing of the John Hay Center and Stevens Memorial Museum and the restoration and financing of Beck’s Mill. He was also a former advisory board member of Indiana University Southeast and the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center.
Roger Harbeson
Member of the IU Southeast Board of Advisors
Roger worked for Monroe Shine & Co., Inc. CPAs, an accounting firm, for the last 42 years. He was active in several professional accounting organizations. Roger graduated from IU Southeast with a B.S. Business, Accounting in 1981. He joined the IU Southeast Board of Advisors in 2021. He was also a life member of the IU Alumni Association and a member of the 1820 Society.
Dr. Ray Wallace
IU Southeast Chancellor
2014 - 2021
Wallace assumed his role at IU Southeast on July 1, 2014. Before coming to IU Southeast, he held faculty and administrative positions at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Kennesaw State University, Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Troy University, Clayton State University and the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
