Roger Alan Harbeson, 62, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
Roger was born on July 15, 1959, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Donald and Theresa (Bezy) Harbeson. After graduating from Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelor of Science in Business, he became a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. Roger was a partner with Monroe Shine & Co., where he started as an intern in 1980. His long career culminated as President and CEO from 2010 to 2016 and Board Chairman from 2017 to present. Roger dedicated his life to serving others, professionally and personally. He held various roles on the boards of Hosparus Health, the Lincoln Heritage Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and the IU Southeast Board of Advisors. Roger was the recipient of the Service Award and Premier Award from Hosparus Health and the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts. Roger was an active member of the Louisville Chapter of Legatus. Roger served as Parish Council President and Finance Committee Chair at St. Michael Catholic Church in Bradford, Indiana, as well as in many other ministerial roles.
Roger loved a good glass of bourbon, mowing the grass, shooting sports, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed talking politics, IU basketball, cars, and accounting.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Karen (Kruer) Harbeson; daughter, Audrey (Kevin) Andres; son, Patrick (Jessica) Harbeson; son, David Harbeson; grandchildren, Dominic Andres, Warren Andres, Ambrose Andres, and Rosalie Harbeson; siblings, Donald (Kimberly) Harbeson, Jr., Neil (Lisa) Harbeson, Thomas (Bobbie) Harbeson, Mary (Stephen) Smith, and Kevin (Paula) Harbeson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Visitation will continue on Friday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church - Bradford (1400 Farmers Lane NE, Greenville, IN 47124), with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
