See you at New Student Orientation!

To help you prepare for success, Indiana University Southeast provides a comprehensive orientation program designed to help you make the most of your college experience.

You will have the opportunity to connect with current and fellow incoming students, learn about resources and how to get involved, and learn more about what it means to be a Grenadier.

Students starting classes in spring 2025 will have orientation on January 8, 2025. Please review the schedule below to plan out your day based on your needs, and then RSVP using the form located below the schedule.

To RSVP for orientation, you need an IU Computing account. 

This is different than the login you used to complete your application.

Please note that it can take up to 24 hours after creating your account before you can access it.

Breakout sessions

Check out the following options to create a schedule that works for you. Note that there is a morning and an afternoon session for each topic.

We will have a presentation before the campus tour leaves. Campus tours will leave from the Admissions Office located in University Center South, Room 102. The presentation and campus tour are roughly an hour long.

This is a walking tour and you will be outside, so please dress accordingly.

An optional housing tour will be offered after the campus tour.

Morning session: 9–10:15 a.m.
Afternoon session: 3–4:15 p.m.

This session will focus on our in-person and virtual resources that are available to help you be successful in college. We will also cover the different technologies you will use as a student.

Morning session: 10:30–11 a.m.
Afternoon session: 12:45–1:15 p.m.

This session will focus on our campus community and how to engage and get involved on campus.

Morning session: 11:15–11:45 a.m.
Afternoon session: 1:30–2 p.m.

This session will focus on the types of aid available to pay for college as well as important information regarding financial aid, scholarships, and paying your bill.

Morning session: noon–12:30 p.m.
Afternoon session: 2:15–2:45 p.m.

Parking and directions

Check-in for orientation is in the Admissions Office, located in University Center South, Room 102.

Parking is free. The closest parking lots to the University Center are the Central, Woodside, and Dogwood lots. Please reference our Campus Map.

Frequently asked questions

Orientation is free for students and guests to attend.

If you need to get your CrimsonCard (your student ID) at orientation, you will need to bring a photo ID. Other than that, you do not need to bring anything to orientation.

You will be walking around campus both inside and outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Students do not register for classes at orientation. All new students must meet with their academic advisor to register for classes.

It is not required for parents to attend orientation, but they are welcome to.

We do not have an alternative orientation you can attend if you are unable to make it on this date. For assistance or questions, please contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@iu.edu or 812-941-2212.

Yes, you are welcome to bring a friend or significant other, and they can attend your sessions with you if they want.

We do ask that students do not bring more than two guests with them.

No, you do not need to attend orientation if you are a transfer student, but you are welcome to if you would like.

While orientation is most commonly attended by first-year students, there is a lot of useful information for transfer students as well.
