At IU Southeast, you can take your associate degree—or a minimum of 30 credit hours of coursework, including pre-nursing courses—and apply it toward a university degree.

Our 100% online Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science is designed for students who are seeking a broad understanding of the science of human health and how they can apply it to a career in the healthcare field. It prepares you for entry- and mid-level positions in both for-profit and not-for-profit health-related organizations and enhances your potential for career advancement.

The Community Health Educator track focuses on building skills needed to conduct general health and wellness assessments, as well as the planning and implementation of health education within a community. It also qualifies you to take the Certified Health Education Specialist Examination offered by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. Becoming a CHES opens many more public health career opportunities.

The Community Health Education track focuses on building skills needed to conduct general health and wellness assessments, as well as the planning and implementation of health education within a community.

Community health educators teach people about behaviors that promote wellness. They develop and implement strategies to improve the health of individuals and communities. They also collect data and discuss health concerns with members of specific populations or communities.

The online program covers the basic technical and applied aspects of health science. Courses include healthcare delivery and leadership, health communication, policy, and ethics. Students learn about the economics of healthcare and receive foundational knowledge in legal matters.

Students completing the Community Health Educator track can take the Certified Health Education Specialist Examination (CHES) offered by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
