Scholars can earn up to four years of college tuition at an eligible Indiana college by keeping the Scholar Pledge. When students enroll in the 7th or 8th grade, they pledge to:
Graduate with an Indiana High School Diploma from a state-accredited high school.
Participate in a Scholar Success Program that helps students plan, prepare and pay for college success.
Achieve a cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Not use illegal drugs or alcohol, or commit a crime or delinquent act.
Apply for admission to an eligible Indiana college or university as a high school senior.
Apply on time for student financial aid (by April 15th of the student's senior year of high school and each subsequent year).
Requirements
In order to keep your scholarship, you must meet the following requirements. The requirements are subject to change based on current Indiana Commission for Higher Education program requirements. For more information, visit the State of Indiana 21st Century Scholars website.
Requirement 1
Complete at least 30 credits each academic year to receive the full scholarship award, which covers 100% of tuition and fees at Indiana public colleges.
Scholars who complete fewer credits may be eligible for a reduced scholarship award (about 35% of the full award). The number of credits completed will be evaluated at the end of each academic year.
Requirement 2
Students must earn Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
At IU Southeast, SAP includes a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 per semester, as well as passing 67% of their courses in a given year.

College Scholars
Your Scholar Support Specialist is on campus for you. You can find them in the Office of Campus Life, University Center, Room 010 and they can assist you in any way you need help. You can reach them by phone at (812) 941-2675.
The scholarship pays for undergraduate tuition and regularly assessed fees. The scholarship does NOT cover the cost of books, room and board, parking fees, lab fees or any other fees assessed that are not assessed to all students.
As a currently enrolled 21st Century Scholar, you must continue to file the FAFSA by April 15th of each year. You must also continue to uphold the requirements of the 21st Century Scholars program. If you are in good standing with the scholarship requirements, IU Southeast will automatically offer you the 21st Century Scholarship in your aid package.
No, you must be enrolled as a full-time student which is at least 12 credit hours per semester.
Your scholarship can only be used at an eligible college or university in the state of Indiana. For information on these institutions, see this page. When you transfer, you must still complete 30 credits per year, enroll in at least 12 credits per semester, and indicate the new college on your FAFSA form in order to receive the proper funds. You will need to confirm with the academic advisors at each institution about which credits will transfer.
Yes, you must file the FAFSA by April 15th each year. If you have corrections or edits on the FAFSA, you must make these before you will be able to receive your scholarship.
High School Scholars
No. You have one year to begin using your award. So if you graduate in May 2019, you have until the Fall 2020 semester to activate your scholarship. Remember that you must complete the High School Scholar Success Program and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 15th of your senior year of high school, even if you are not attending college in the fall. Additionally, the FAFSA must be filed by April 15th of each subsequent year.
If you exceed the one-year requirement to begin college as a full-time college student due to active-duty service in the military you will need to submit a letter of appeal and a copy of your DD214.
