The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics requires three semesters of Calculus, a course in Linear Algebra, a course in Probability Theory, the course Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning, a 400-level two-course sequence in Modern Algebra or Introductory Analysis, a Senior Thesis course, and four additional mathematics electives at the 300 or 400-level. The B.S. in Mathematics also requires a course in biology, a sequence in calculus-based physics or in chemistry, and a two-course sequence in computer science.

Double Degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science

The B.S. degree in computer science (mathematics/ science option) is quite similar to the B.S. in mathematics. Since this degree require a significant number of the required courses in the mathematics degree, it is quite easy to obtain double degrees in mathematics and computer science.

Double Degrees in Mathematics and Education

The B.S. degree in secondary education (teaching major in mathematics) is quite similar to the B.S. in mathematics. Since this degree requires a significant number of the required courses in the mathematics degree, it is quite easy to obtain double degrees in mathematics and education.

Degree Information

All Bachelor’s degrees offered by IU Southeast requires a minimum of 120 credit hours and a minimum of 30 credit hours of upper-level coursework (300-level or above).
