The M.I.S. curriculum is composed of the following thematic courses whose actual titles and content vary each semester. Required courses are listed below. Courses meet evenings from 6-8:30 p.m. except where otherwise indicated.

All courses are 3 credit hours unless otherwise noted.

Fall (13-16 credit hours)

  • IDIS-D 510 - Intro to Graduate Liberal Studies (4 credit hours)
  • IDIS-D 501 - Humanities Seminar (3-4 credit hours)
  • IDIS-D 502 - Social Sciences Seminar (3-4 credit hours)
  • IDIS-D 503 - Natural Sciences Seminar (3-4 credit hours)

Spring (16.5-19.5 credit hours)

  • IDIS-D 501 - Humanities Seminar (3-4 credit hours)
  • IDIS-D 502 - Social Sciences Seminar (3-4 credit hours)
  • IDIS-D 503 - Natural Sciences Seminar (3-4 credit hours)
  • IDIS-D 591 - Graduate Workshop on Teaching (1.5 credit hours)
  • IDIS-D 512 - Methods of Survey Research
  • IDIS-D 512 - Grant Writing

Summer (6-7 credit hours)

  • IDIS-D 601 - Thesis Proposal Seminar
  • IDIS-D 501 or 502 or 503 - MIS Seminar (3-4 credit hours)
