Dear scholarship applicant, before you get started filling out this application, here is what you will be asked to provide/share:
This confidential scholarship application will inquire about you, the applicant (your name, address, phone, IU Southeast email, academic major, and GPA).
The application will also require for you to write a short “statement of purpose” essay (an important part of the selection process) which must include the following components:
- Statement length: This statement should be approximately 300 - 500 words.
- Targeted content: This statement needs to clearly articulate how this particular study abroad experience will contribute to the attainment of your educational/academic and career goals.
- Financial support: Why you need financial aid for this study abroad program.
Finally, the application will ask you to provide contact information (name and email) for an individual (preferably faculty member) willing to write a support/reference letter on your behalf (Be sure to follow up with the faculty to confirm that the support/reference letter has been sent to our office by the deadline).
To address any potential conflict of interest, applicants who receive a letter of sponsorship from a faculty member involved in the study abroad program must also provide an additional recommendation letter from a faculty member unaffiliated with the program
We strongly suggest that you have all the required information before you get started!
Once you’ve filled out this application (and the letter of reference is received), you will be eligible for an IUS study abroad scholarship (please note the GPA eligibility criteria of 2.75). Feel free to apply to other scholarships too (some are listed on our site)!
To be eligible for the SAGA scholarship, all undergraduate student applicants must be enrolled for at least one full semester as full-time students at the time of application. This requirement does not apply to graduate students.
