Bringing part-time faculty together

The Adjunct Faculty Scholars Conference (AFSC) brings together part-time instructors for a day of professional development and networking. All adjunct faculty, at any university, are invited to attend this conference. Recent participants have included adjunct faculty from IU Southeast, Bellarmine University, Ivy Tech, Spalding University, Sullivan College, the University of Louisville, and other Indiana University campuses.

AFSC is a unique and valuable educational opportunity for faculty members who are interested in expanding their knowledge and engaging with others in their field. The conference will offer presentations from experienced instructors on a variety of topics, including research, teaching, and scholarship. There will be opportunities for networking, discussion, and learning about current trends and developments in education.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. M. Beth Borst

Dr. M. Beth Borst is Statewide Dean of the Honors College & Transfer Initiatives at Ivy Tech Community College in the Office of the Provost. She also holds the rank of Professor where she specializes in Leadership and continues to teach at Ivy Tech and in a part-time capacity at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

She holds a B.A. in journalism from Indiana University Bloomington, and an M.A. in Adult and Community Education as well as an Ed.D. in Adult, Higher, and Community Education from Ball State University.

Her research interests include collegiate honors programs and pedagogy, adult learning, student transfer success, and gender and leadership. She is co-author of the book Community College is College: A Resource for High-Achieving Learners. (Prufrock/Rutledge · Oct 17, 2024).
