Biography
Crosier was a Laconia, Indiana, native who specialized in painting the forests and streams of Harrison County, Indiana. "Sid" was attracted to drawing at a young age. Crosier moved to New York State in the 1880s where he worked as a house painter to finance his schooling at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
He later moved back to Indiana to care for his widowed mother.
Back in his home state, he worked as a drugstore clerk and painted on the side. Writer Larry Ordner described Russell’s art shop as an “emotional” haven for Crosier. Crosier also taught and mentored Katherine A. Bulliet, a member of Wonderland Way.
