Where Does My Money Go?

Financial support for co-curricular programs comes from the Student Activity Fee, which all undergraduate and graduate students pay each semester. The fee is assessed on a per credit hour basis up to a maximum of 12 credit hours.

Without the money from the Student Activity Fee, Indiana University Southeast would not be able to offer many of the activities or sponsor the organizations that develop and enrich student life at Indiana University Southeast.

Activities and Organizations sponsored by the Student Activity Fee

Athletics
The fee allocation funds the operation of all intercollegiate athletic functions. IU Southeast offers intercollegiate opportunities in volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s tennis. The funds also support travel for the teams that qualify for post-season tournaments.

Cheerleaders
The cheerleaders perform at all men’s and women’s home basketball games and various other on- and off-campus events. The cheerleaders help promote our athletic programs, support student athletes, and generate school spirit.

Game Room
The game room is one of the primary student lounge areas on campus, offering video game hook-ups, board games, billiards, table tennis, and a place for student recreation, relaxation, and interaction. The fee allocation provides for game related equipment and staff coverage.

Graduate Research Journal
The Graduate Research Journal provides graduate students from any of the graduate programs the opportunity to publish their research papers. When published, the Graduate Research Journal will be made available at the Information Desk and displayed across campus.

The Horizon
The Horizon is the official student newspaper of IU Southeast. The weekly paper is funded by activity fee money and advertising revenue. All facets of the publication are student driven.

Leadership Development
The Student Activity Fee allocation facilitates the provision of various leadership development programs for students. The diverse array of programs focus on developing current and emerging student leaders as well as providing opportunities for other students to develop leadership skills and gain the tools needed to effectively lead.

Learning Enrichment Fund
The fees supporting this fund are dedicated for the enrichment of students’ educational experiences. The fund allows students to travel to conferences to make research or other professional presentations. Students with faculty support may apply for these funds.

The Literary Review
The Literary Review is published every year with photographs, poetry, and short stories submitted by students. The Literary Review is published by students and is available at the Information Desk and various places around campus.

Student Government Association (SGA)
Allocations to the Student Government Association provide the financial resources necessary to address student concerns and to represent IU Southeast throughout the state. These fees also allow your student representatives to attend IU Board of Trustees meetings.

Student Involvement
The fees provide one-time seed monies to new recognized student organizations, fund opportunities to encourage and increase student engagement, and support the annual Commitment to Student Learning awards program.

Student Program Council (SPC)
Fees allocated to the Student Program Council provide the financial support for all student-produced lectures, concerts, and events on campus. All aspects of the events are planned and produced by students. Undergraduate Research Journal (URJ)

Undergraduate Research Journal
The URJ provides undergraduate students in any academic discipline the opportunity to publish their research papers or essays. The URJ is available at the Information Desk and is displayed across campus.

Volunteer Programs
The allocation funds campus and community service opportunities.
