The Sanders Professional Sales Center (SPSC) was created to draw high-ability students toward selling as a career, better prepare those students—regardless of major—for early success in professional selling careers, and to connect them with sales professionals in the Kentuckiana region.

Sanders Sales Center students will learn in the state-of-the-art Sanders Sales Lab, located in Hillside Hall adjacent to the Sander Financial Markets Lab.

An important objective of the SPSC is to connect sales program students with Kentuckiana region sales professionals and organizations, via role play competitions, internships, role-playing, guest speakers, panel discussions and, of course, career opportunities. We invite companies and sales professionals who wish to learn more about how they may get involved to contact Dr. Chris Cox at kccox@ius.edu, or (812) 941-2334.

Because the primary goal of the SPSC is to prepare students for success in the sales profession, programs of study have been developed for business majors, those majoring in areas outside of business, and for non-degree seekers who wish to pursue a certificate program. Business students may concentrate or minor in Professional Selling and Sales Management, while working professionals and career-changers would be directed to certificate programs. Students majoring in the sciences, nursing, information technology, communications or the liberal arts may pursue a minor. So, whether you are a business student looking for a career in business-to-business sales or as a financial advisor, a biology major wishing to pursue a career in medical or pharmaceutical sales, or a journalism major interested in becoming an account executive in media sales, there is a program designed to prepare you for success.

The core sales curriculum consists of courses in Consultative Selling, Sales Management, and Negotiation, and is supported with other marketing courses in Buyer Behavior, Marketing Research, and Marketing Strategy. Visit the Concentration in Professional Selling and Sales Management webpage for a complete list of requirements.
