Are you interested in a career working for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency? Maybe one in environmental education and communications? Or possibly a consulting role in the private or public sector? If these career paths speak to you, then the Sustainability and Regeneration program is where you belong.

Offering students the option of choosing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, this interdisciplinary degree provides its students with skills and perspectives that will serve the development of their own rewarding careers in this field. The strengths of the program are:

  • Engages students in relevant civic engagement opportunities in the Southern Indiana - Louisville metropolitan region.
  • Provides an alternative program for students interested in environmental issues but less interested in scientific occupations.
  • Enhances the liberal arts experience with courses in the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and business.

Careers in this field are frequently called "Green Jobs" and will be found in all sectors: from public to private and at the local, state, national and international levels. Some possible career options may include jobs with:

  • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and similar such departments in other countries.
  • The Department of the Interior, including the National Parks System.
  • Departments of natural resources in the different states in the US.
  • City and state departments of sustainability and environmental management.
  • Private agricultural and resource management firms.
  • Policy advocacy and grassroots organizations at all levels.
  • Major non-profit organizations such as World Resources International, World Watch or World Wildlife Fund.
  • International organizations, such as the World Bank or United Nations (focusing on water, agriculture, resources, food, energy).
  • Financial markets focusing on carbon permits and other pollutants.
