Faculty Innovator

Nominate an innovative educator

This award recognizes the effort put forth by faculty who have redesigned their courses or introduced new courses with innovative, research-based approaches to the practice of teaching, using new methods and/or technologies, with an intentional emphasis on how these innovations improved or facilitated student learning.

ILTE will accept nominations and self-nominations for the Faculty Innovator Award on a rolling basis. Each faculty member who is recommended will be contacted and asked about their innovations. Eight will be selected each year to be highlighted as one of the monthly ILTE Innovators. The award recipient will be selected from this pool of monthly innovators and will receive a $1,500 stipend, awarded at a spring lunch reception.

What do we mean by "innovation"?

You may have developed a new way of assisting students to think critically. Alternatively, you may be using an older technique—for example, the think-pair-share—in an innovative way to increase student success. Innovation may or may not include technology, and should always lead to greater student learning.
