Biography
Dr. Michael Day holds a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology as well as an M.T.S. and M.A. in Theology, an M.A. in Psychology, and a B.A. in English. He began his current position as the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services in 2008 and has been a member of the adjunct faculty at IU Southeast since 2003. In his role in counseling services, Dr. Day provides individual and couples therapy to students; crisis intervention; outreach and educational presentations; and supervises graduate students from the University of Louisville, Spalding University, and the University of Indianapolis who are completing year-long practicum experiences for their doctoral training. In his therapy practice at the university, the most common presenting concerns are anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns. His area of professional expertise and interests include trauma, psychological assessment, spirituality, supervision, and organizational leadership. He describes his approach to therapy as Cognitive-Behavioral from Psychodynamic foundation with emphasis on the biopsychosocial model and evidence based practices. He is licensed by the states of Indiana and Kentucky, as well as in 32 additional states for online mental health services. In addition, he is a member of Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors and the American Psychological Association. In addition to his work at IU Southeast, he is a member of the Clinical Faculty at Spalding University's School of Professional Psychology, a consulting psychologist for Saint Luke Center in Louisville, a consulting psychologist for Sweet Behavior in Jeffersonville, and a consulting psychologist for Outward Bound Services in Charlestown. Prior to taking his position at IU Southeast he worked at Brooklawn Child and Family Services and Spalding University.
