Biography

I am a senior lecturer in mathematics, have been with IUS since 1990 and love teaching math with technology. I believe in active learning using calculators, computers and math software. Using technology makes learning more fun, dynamic and interactive. It also allows students to learn and achieve mastery by doing mathematics and applying math to their life. I am working on course redesign projects in developmental mathematics using models developed nationally by NCAT (see links below).

I also serve as the coordinator of the math lab. This lab was funded by my strategic directions grant. Other grants from Ameritech, now called ATT funded our new math classroom and several curriculum development projects.

I belong to the International Society for Technology in Education and I am currently involved with the Special Interest Group for Mobile Learning. I am a former member of the board for ISTE and officer of SIGHC (handheld computing). I currently serve on The Editorial Advisory Board.

I am an editor not a writer. I consult with curriculum developers and comment for other math textbook authors and instructional design experts. I also serve on a panel of reviewers for the Journal of Research on Technology in Education (JRTE) and review manuscripts as a member of The Editorial Advisory Board of ISTE and SIGML.
