If you’re a complete beginner thinking about buying a guitar or maybe you’ve played on and off, but it never seems to stick then this course is for you. No experience is required! We will start with the absolute basics of the instrument. This is a low-pressure environment, and it is intended to be a new adventure. By the end of this course, you will be able to play basic chords, play melodies, and understand the basics of rhythm. This course will improve many aspects of your musical and guitar knowledge.

Materials
The following materials need to be purchased prior to the first class. These items are available at most music stores or online.
- Acoustic Guitar (Electric guitars may be used, but you must bring an amplifier and necessary cables)
- Strap or footstool
- Picks
- Capo
- Tuner or tuner app (Several available for free—clip-on tuner is suggested)
About the instructor
Chris Roseland
Chris is an Instructor of Guitar for the IU Southeast Arts Institute and has been an Adjunct Instructor of Guitar at Bellarmine University since 2014. Chris holds an undergraduate degree in Music Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Guitar and a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar. He has been a finalist and won prizes in competitions such as the University of Louisville, University of Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, and Eastern Carolina University International Guitar Festival and Competition.
