Alternative Teaching Licensure Programs
IU Southeast offers alternative certification programs for individuals seeking a teaching license. These programs are designed as a fast-track option to licensure for individuals who already have a bachelor's degree in an area other than education. These licensing programs can also be used as part of a master's degree.
Early Childhood Transition to Teaching
The early childhood Transition to Teaching program leads to certification and licensure for pre-kindergarten through grade 3 teachers.
Elementary Transition to Teaching
The elementary Transition to Teaching program leads to an elementary generalist license for teaching kindergarten through sixth grade.
Secondary Transition to Teaching
The secondary Advance to Teaching program leads to a license for teaching grades 5 through 12 in one of 17 content areas.
Special Education Post-Baccalaureate
The post-baccalaureate initial licensing program in Special Education leads to a license in teaching students at any grade level with mild to moderate disabilities.
