Description of the video:

Hi! My name is Dr. Carla Hermann. I am the Director of the Master of Science in Nursing program here at Indiana University Southeast.

Nurses are a critical member of the interprofessional health care team. Unfortunately, we continue to experience a shortage of nurses. And just as there is a shortage of nurses, there is a shortage of nurse educators and administrators – individuals prepared to teach future generations of nurses and to provide leadership in health care.

The School of Nursing here at IU Southeast has a long history of providing high quality education. Continuing in that tradition, IU Southeast began the MSN program in 2017 with two advanced role concentrations, education and administration, to help meet the critical need for nurse educators and nurse leaders.

Our fully accredited MSN program uses a hybrid format. In the hybrid format, the vast majority of the course work is done online, but most of our courses also meet about 4 times a semester. This approach really combines the best of both worlds. There’s great flexibility for students who have incredibly busy lives as working nurses and other responsibilities along with occasional class meetings that provide a true sense of community among students.

Our small class sizes also provide the opportunity for students to build supportive relationships with our faculty members; relationships in which they are closely mentored in an environment that is really focused on student success.

Although the MSN program only began 3 years ago, our graduates are already making a huge difference in the community as they use their skills and knowledge in their advanced practice roles as nurse educators and administrators. I am so glad you are thinking about advancing your education and enhancing your career opportunities.

Thank you for taking time to learn about our very affordable and accessible MSN program. You can find more information on our website, but if you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I would be happy to chat about how the MSN program at IU Southeast could help you reach your career goals.
