The Indiana University Office of Space Information is responsible for maintaining Indiana University’s official building and room data. They solicit annual updates from individual departments on a university-wide basis to capture up-to-date information regarding the detailed use and configuration of all IU-owned space. The information that campuses provide is used to fulfill state and federal facilities reporting requirements. Funding for repair and rehabilitation of university facilities is generated using data from this process. Updated space information is critical for the planning of renovation and new construction projects, as well as maintenance and management of existing facilities.

The Indiana University Space Information department maintains facilities data on all campus buildings as part of a university-wide effort to develop, enhance, manage, and upkeep space. In the event that a change occurs in the use or occupant(s) of an assigned space (office, work room, classroom, laboratory, etc.), the office or academic unit responsible for that space should immediately notify the IU Space Information department. The IU Space Information department can provide space utilization data to requesters as needed.
